Associate Director - Lead Land Consents Surveyor
You will use your experience in all key aspects of Infrastructure and Utilities Land Consents to delivery projects, ranging from small scale negotiations to large scale utilities projects
Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of South region, this is a senior management position at either Associate or Associate Director level. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing client delivery, instructions and relationships for Land Consents clients across the east and south east of England as well as running their own portfolio of projects. Clients may include UK Power Networks, National Grid Transmission/Distribution and SSEN, to name a few.
The role will include line managing a Savills delivery team, comprising both employees and consultants to ensure that delivery, quality, timescales and expectations are achieved at the highest standards. You will also need to maintain daily client relationships to enable understanding of client resource needs, upcoming project work, delivery concerns and wider business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
Line Management of a delivery team, including:
- Monitoring of delivery and quality of services to clients.
- Line management including appraisals, HR matters and initial management point of contact.
- Undertaking interviews and recruitment selection, in conjunction with Head of Region and Head of UK Land Consents.
- Undertaking and arranging Land Consents training of staff.
- Undertaking complex land consents tasks to support the team, client and projects, including agreement of a range of consenting documentation from wayleaves to heads of terms for lease/freehold purchases.
- Taking sole responsibility of your own project portfolio and maintaining delivery.
- Working as part of a project team within the wider UK business with colleagues, clients and contractors.
- Be the initial day to day contact for any client communication including new instructions.
- Liaison with the Land Consents administration and management teams in forecasting and invoicing.
- Forming regional and UK wide Land Consents strategy with the Land Consents Management team.
- Manage reporting on budgets, project progress, allocation and delivery timescales internally and to client.
- Identify new opportunities for the expansion of the Land Consents business and work with Head of UK Land Consents in developing opportunity.
- Conduct regular Land Consents team briefings as a region and as part of the wider business.
- Identify efficiencies in process, resource and delivery and implement changes.
Key Skills
- Experience in the utilities and infrastructure sector.
- Efficient and effective communicator
- Experience in managing multiple project portfolio
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ideally AssocRICS or MRICS or willingness to progress.
- Experience in recruitment, training and development of team and clients.
- People and Client focussed to give the best experience possible.
- Experience within the utilities, agricultural or planning industries desirable.

Savills Projects is a single department covering the whole of the UK. Within the Infrastructure department, Land Consents is a discipline which consists of over 90 staff located throughout the country at entry level to those with over 30 years’ experience.
We specialise in Infrastructure and Utilities clients and projects and are passionate about the high levels of service and collaborative working with our clients.
